Keith Kerrigan's Fishing Reports

Shasta lake:

8/15/20  They are feed on Shad. I am trolling at 50 ft. You should be looking for bait balls all the time.. there small right now ,but the rainbows will be hanging around . Find the bait you'll find the Rainbows. Brown's are hanging around points at about 40ft. I see them but have not been able to net one in a month. The Kings are starting to get to the catchable size, but I am not targeting them.

I have days open for some great Trout fishing this summer on Shasta lake.

Whiskeytown is Putting out some nice Kokanee. They are running 15 to 20 inch right now, with some bigger ones coming to the net. Most are being caught at 35 ft. to 70ft. with

Shasta Tackle sling blades in sliver with a sunrise hoochie 7 inches behind it trolled at 1.3 to 1.5. Try starting at the bridge an moving to the point to the west. This has been my hot spot so far this year. Now that it has gotten into the 100's the kokes will start to school up an i'm thinking they will be at about 45ft. for most of the year. some will go down an hang out around 90 to 120ft.
